Lynx are trapped.
Lynx fur is used to produce coats, jackets, hats, and muffs. It takes the fur of 8 to 12 lynx to make a fur coat.
The Canada lynx cannot be found in Switzerland is, however, related to the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx). The Eurasian lynx became extinct in Switzerland at the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1962, the Swiss Game Law protects the lynx. In the seventies, lynx were resettled in Switzerland so that today, approx. 100 lynx can be found in this country. Despite being protected by the law, lynx are still shot from time to time. They are not, however, shot for their fur but because of conflicts of interest with human beings.
