Trapping
Coyotes are trapped in wire loop or leghold traps.
Coyote fur is used to make coats, jackets, hats and accessories. The furs of 10 to 15 coyotes are needed to make one fur coat.
In many regions of the USA and Canada, coyotes are described as „pests“ and it is claimed that their number needs to be regulated. The laws that allow for the use of loops as well as legholds often reflect such statements, usually made by trappers. The traps can only be checked every 72 hours.
