Farm housing / Trapping

Mainly housed on farms and in cages in Eastern Europe and Asia. Stray dogs are also caught and used for fur.

Use

Dog fur is used for coats, jackets, fur linings for hoods, gloves, shoes, handbags, and toys. It takes the fur of 10 – 12 dogs or 42 puppies to make a coat.

Within the scope of the revision of the Animal Protection Act, in 2005, the Swiss Parliament prohibited the import of cat and dog fur.
